Enlightenment is the complete awareness of life without mental modifications. When we meditate, we are seeking enlightenment and enlightening experiences. We seek to become a little more enlightened, that is, a little more aware of life as it really is, every time we meditate. We gradually develop a clearer and clearer view through our practices until one day we are always in the flow of what is called by the Tibetan Buddhists the Clear Light of Reality. At that point, we say a person has become enlightened or self – realized. Anyone enlightened is ridiculously happy in the most profound and simplest ways: the experience of the inner light itself is ecstasy.
